Pre-Teen Support Groups
Starting in Highland Park
Upon entry into middle
school, many preteens find
themselves unprepared to
face the life transitions of
increasing academic demands
compounded by rigorous peer
pressures and the social
challenge of gaining
acceptance into new
friendship circles. Girls at
the start of puberty
typically begin to
experience body image
concerns and preoccupations,
losing self-confidence even
as they confront the
developmental milestones of
adolescence and identity.
Girls between the ages of 12
and 14 are invited to attend
a 2 hour educative-support
group offered once a month
on Sunday afternoons in
Highland Park. Groups are
designed to reinforce
internal resources, social
skills, healthy values
development and
self-confidence. Groups will
be facilitated by Abigail
Natenshon, a psychotherapist
who has been in private
practice in Highland Park
for the past 3 decades.
The girls' group will be
immediately followed by a 90
minute group for the parents
of group members and other
youngsters who struggle with
these issues, also
facilitated by Natenshon.

held at 271 Hazel Ave.
